Referring to the SD post; 7 minutes seems a long time after closure for someone to be able to post an answer.

There's a "clear spam/rude flags" option for mods that will dispute the flags and undo the Community-cast votes but not the ones cast by users.

It even undeletes posts that got deleted due to flagging.... I uh... don't use it much.

@CodyGray the autoflag threshold is arguably too low here; I often repeat my recommendation to not allow autoflags at a lower threshold than the default just to reduce the risk for this sort of mistake

@RyanM It's worth noting that only red flags (spam/abusive) can be marked as "disputed" by moderators, using the option Catija mentioned. Otherwise, it's just "helpful" or "declined". Which one gets used depends on how observant we are.

@Catija The minimum permitted is 99.75%, based on historical accuracy, but that's over all the sites which are included in the person's flagging condition, so it's possible that the actual accuracy on a specific site can be lower. SO is a typical example of that, because it tends to have a much higher rate of false positives.

@CodyGray Oh, yeah... that's why I get so irate about it. They know that they want to write an answer but doing so would take an hour or two... so they create a blank, delete it, and then write their answer while the question gets closed... and then undelete.

@JohnDvorak In some cases, MS does raise custom flags to inform moderators that the post was deleted, at least in part, by flags raised through metasmoke, that the feedback which was received was conflicted. It's intended to allow moderators to have a look at potentially problematic posts, where there might have been a post improperly deleted. Ironically, a significant number of those custom flags are declined.

We had a user the other day who had raised 22 spam flags on posts that weren't spam. They didn't get banned from flagging by any automatic mechanism.

HA. No. I had credit hours from community colleges in Seattle, Northern Virginia and San Antonio. Started collecting them my senior year in high school. Moved to DC area for a year or so then to UK for 9 months (didn't go to school) then back home to San Antonio for a couple of years. Then, finally, to Austin.

Though, she's currently living across the street from my dad... renting that house from him and his husband. HAHA

Sunflower Vietnamese is, by the way, fantastic. It's actual, authentic Vietnamese, with stuff on the menu other than Pho and vermicelli (which are both good, but come on, Vietnamese people eat stuff other than this).

Oh man, I lived in a stairwell one year in a college dormitory. Seriously. Dorm room off of a stairwell, said stairwell having a giant, metal, clanging exterior door in it as well, which echoed very loudly off the, um, stairwell.

@Nick Oohh, thanks for that. La Fiesta looks very good, and in-line with normal SF Bay Area prices. I will have to check that out for sure. Looks to be a couple of blocks off Castro St. Now I just have to cross my fingers that there is some parking nearby.

Their menu has this odd little notice: 'Our dishes are made from raw, natural ingredients. We are meticulous in the preparation of our dishes. Even so, we can inadvertently include natural substances and/or crunchy edges. We ask that you take care to avoid "dental mishaps".' I get where they're coming from, but still... "dental mishaps" is odd.

@RyanM I recommend getting an air cleaner for your bedroom. Not only because it cleans the air (and who doesn't like clean air?), but because it also generates white noise that drowns out unwanted exterior noises extremely well.

@CodyGray I have one, although it was purchased in part for being near silent. I actually have three fans running at most times. What they do not help with, however, is the floor shaking because these people slam their door so hard.

SF can be downright chilly sometimes, though, with the sea breeze.

Yeah, that's very true. Most of what gets studied in Northern Europe is either religion or from Viking sagas, both of which got written down.

But thinking about it, I feel like my educational experience mostly just ignored Finland....

I guess I failed to make the connection between modern Finland and Swedish rule during the High Middle Ages
