Any reason I shouldn't approve edits that change the tag from "elastic-cache" to "amazon-elasticache"? The former appears to be a misspelling and doesn't have a wiki. As far as I can tell, there isn't a separate, non-Amazon thing called elastic-cache.

Question: I see this more and more, user1 writes an answer, user2 writes an answer, user1 edits his answer introducing the concepts of user2. What do you do in this case?

@kvantour depends. If it is a blatant copy, flag. If the answer is improved we call that a win. If it is meh, down vote.

@rene it is done by a rephunter, I see it often. It is not a blatant copy, but clearly taking over the fundamental part needed for a correct answer minutes after the other user posted his answer.

I failed an audit and banned. Please review these two answers: 1 and 2. I flagged second as NAA and failed audit. Is that really an answer?

@AmitJoshi Both look okay to me.

@AmitJoshi Both indicate the problem is a bug in the language itself. They are, in fact, answers to the question. They're not great (a quote about the bug would help) but they work

@AmitJoshi It's answering the question, or rather stating that the bug is fixed, it even includes a link to the fix, so I'd say they're okay

@AmitJoshi the alternative would be to delete it as NAA and to close the question as no-repro, which seems unfair to the asker. But you can read the question as pertaining to a particular version and the answer as "upgrade to the next build". As for usefulness - it's certainly more useful than the other answer, which suggests to downgrade. Methinks.

We also don't want to close and potentially delete the Q since someone else might have this version and run into the same issue.

My mistake then. I will try to improve those answers...

@Dharman I attempted to improve them to look them more like an answer instead of Link Only or just Comment. But yes, there is really nothing much to improve. Dropped the idea; they are good as is.

wat. I started to check in a new project to TFS and then canceled halfway through. Now Visual Studio thinks the project is in TFS somewhere but it's not. facepalm

@TylerH well, yes. TFS is really a bunch of webservices and ditto sql server databases. Those can go out-of-sync when something is screwed midway. Back in the days there were server tools that you could run to bring back sanity.

@M-- sounds like a question about a problem faced by developers when using their language of choice. I would say it can stay, certainly not OB because regex by itself is a defined and so is the email spec. It might be a lot of work to exactly explain which parts of the spec make that the regex will not work but overall the question seems on-topic and answerable.

@M-- I don't think it is closable at all.

One problem may be that the question is actually three questions: 1) why do people say regex validation is hard (could be objectively answered w/ examples) 2) are there some good examples (off-topic request), and 3) what are some alternatives to regex validation? (could be argued either way as an off-topic request). Any and all of those questions are also duplicates, most likely

@halfer When a question is closed as a request for off-site resources, the only thing which is displayed is "off-topic". All other non-custom close reasons have distinct text describing the close reason. I brought this up when the new post notices were introduced, but the issue was marked as [tag-meta:status-bydesign]. I agree that it's unhelpful/not welcoming.
