A user self-deleted their Question likely (only) because it was closed as a Duplicate. Does that happen often / should they be reopened?

Do you think that duplicate serves as an important signpost to the master question, @pkamb? That would be the only reason to undelete and keep it.

It's perfectly fine to have users clean up after themselves. Some might even say it's encouraged. As long as they're not destroying value in the process.

Your #1 is what I meant by "signpost".

I don't know why we care about #2.

People feeling "punished" by having a question closed is a curious phenomenon that does seem to occur, but it makes no sense and isn't something that we can or should do anything about.

hmm surprisingly excelp is not always a typo. There were several Excel-related questions using it

@Machavity No, it's not. It's just asking how to do the task. It's not asking for recommendations. In fact, in a comment on the most upvoted NAA, the OP says they don't want "additional libraries and dependencies".

@robsiemb Alternately, you can ask for SD privileges in Charcoal HQ (CHQ). The requirements for participation in there are lower, but that's because the room is specifically focused on SmokeDetector. People in there primarily concentrated on reviewing SD reports. SD reports in CHQ are not moved out of the room. Those factors make it much more likely someone will notice and speak up if your feedback is contrary to expectations.
