@CodyGray Same for ROs. Try refreshing the browser when the message is still on the screen. That should make it go away for a few days or weeks.

@CodyGray @StephenKennedy It's just how the chat system works. There's really nothing we can do about it. You'll get one notification the first time a message is moved into a room. If another message is moved to the same room, you won't get another notification until you've entered the room and are able to talk and have then left the room (i.e. you don't get a notification if you are already in the destination room).

For ROs and moderators, this means that you'll get another notification the next time a message is moved to the room, if you've visited the room since the previous one was moved. Thus, if I enter the SOCVR Graveyard or SOCVR /dev/null, I'll usually leave myself active in those rooms until I log out of my system.

For users who can't talk in a room, they will only get a single notification for the first message moved into that room. They won't get any notifications for additional messages being moved into that room. They will get a notification for messages moved into a different room.

Ah, great.... So it's back to my default strategy of ignoring all notifications.

I like to leave rooms to clean up the sidebar.

@Chipster It's really only annoying for ROs and moderators. Everyone else only ever gets one notification total for each of the Graveyard and /dev/null. As an RO, you just deal with it. Once you know about it, you either avoid actually entering the Graveyard or /dev/null (i.e. view the each room's transcript), or just stay in the room until you logout from SE chat. It's moderately annoying, but was only really annoying, at least for me, until I knew how to avoid resetting the notifications.

@Chipster Beyond what Makyen said, if you think that's annoying, you don't have any idea what being a moderator is like. :-p

Now...I could nitpick there. A style checker like Clang-Tidy is altogether different from a compiler, so your comment probably isn't applicable. But it still isn't a problem from a moderation perspective.

Ooohh, okay. Yeah, comments that teach people how to use functionality on this site are fine. But they're a perfect example of the sort of comments that become "no longer needed" (i.e., obsolete). Once the intended audience has read it, then the comment can get deleted. It doesn't add anything for future readers of the Q&A.

There are problems with the SE API at the moment. The issue began with getting "site is required" errors a couple of hours ago: SE API is randomly responding with “site is required” errors. I'm now also seeing CORS errors in multiple situations, but not all.

This has been probably addressed already. Once in a while, I see different closure reasons like needs clarification(instead of Unclear), needs more focus (instead of TB), etc. It happened on two different days. Is it in the experimental phase? Anybody has a link to the meta post explaining it?

@Nkosi This has been leaked a couple/few of times on MSE. To the best of my knowledge 4+ separate questions about it, most, if not all, were deleted, because the leaks ultimately originated from a moderator disclosing information that was to remain moderator-private while it was being discussed and SE was getting feedback.

@Dharman There's really no way for us to know. However, I wouldn't expect the CORS violation to be the error in that situation. I'd also expect them to kick off the recalc at a time corresponding with low usage. In addition, the system should be designed such that the extra load from recalculating wouldn't impact current uses. It's not like the recalc needs to take priority.

The recalc is something that will take a reasonable amount of wall-time, one way or the other. Having it set at a priority which causes harm to other uses of the system really isn't reasonable.

@M-- @TylerH Yes, unfortunately, someone did actually blacklist the name, not just the user. The name was removed from the username blacklist earlier today, but the running SD instance failed-over to an instance that had not yet puled the update that removed the name. The running SD instance, and all standby instances, have been pulled past the commits which removed that name from the blacklist and watchlist. I agree that it was inappropriate for it to be put on the blacklist to begin with.

@EJoshuaS-ReinstateMonica For a del-pls, it would be appropriate, provided you were trying to delete the answer. For cv-pls and del-pls regarding questions, the status of answers is irrelevant

@Dharman Can always search the graveyard. Here's your list

@Dharman it's cached based on the state of the page. If you have 5 votes, and then open 5 questions (one in each tab), and then delete vote the posts on 4 of them, then when you get over to the 5th tab and click "delete" it pops up a modal, which doesn't refresh the page state or cache. If you refresh the 5th tab and then click 'delete' you will see that you have 1 vote remaining

Delete votes stick around forever, but you can only cast 1. So if you delete a question via a vote and it gets undeleted, you cannot vote to delete it a second time

@Dharman The post getting blurred out and a modal popping up is what you see no matter what rep you are. When you click it, it refreshes the page to show the new state -- if you were under 10k and you saw that happen in real time, then when you click it, the post would just be gone. Now that you have more than 10k rep, you can see it, just in its soft-deleted state (e.g. red background, faded, etc.)

How do I know if I have voted on particular post to be deleted before all the votes are in?
