@Ron Not as a priority. A dupe-hammer would not be a huge advantage in there. I would prefer an actual hammer to use on those offering cargo-cult advice, solutions that are inappropriate, over-complex and/or actually so wrong that they can never work:)

@Ron One big problem with [multithreaded] is the massive amount of FUD that is spread around by developers whom, it often seems, have never actually written any multithreaded apps at all or, having tried it once and found a bug, vowed to never try it ever again and to put off as many other developers as possible with wailing pronouncements about deadlocks, race-conditins and priority-inversion:(

@Ron ikr. It's like NPE's. Who cares? If a pointer is null and you try to dereference it, your app blows up, it's obvious where after a bit of easy debugging, and it gets fixed. It's like some kind of irrational fear sets in about some aspects of programming, 'nullophobia', maybe:) Same thing with deadlocks - why worry when it's blatantly obvious what is happening, (or, more correctly, what is not happening:).

@MartinJames What I find particularly interesting is the game industry. Developers working in game development often think they've found the "one size fits all" solution and are not shy to preach that to everyone.

And this is nowhere more true than in C++.

I tend to avoid CPPCon game industry speeches. I even had the misfortune of working with a guy who was involved with Mame at one point. B* artist.

He claims to have managed the project at one point. No expertise whatsoever.

@JohnDvorak Either I run into a bad apple company or Prague companies pay peanuts to C++ developers.

Norway is cool, after some tax breaks for foreigners you are left with 4 - 4.5K net € per month.
