I have a dilemma

My real dilemma is that I have a while loop which counts the number of items in a dropdown list. After that, I have a for loop, where I need to select each item in the list and do some stuff, and then start the loop over and select the next item, etc.

And I can't figure out how to go thru the whole for loop once and then on the 2nd round through, select the 2nd item (etc.)

I'm not sure I understand your specific problem, but then again I assume your almost-question is of a rhetorical nature

@AndrasDeak I'm putting some code together but basically I am counting the # of items in a dropdown menu in one loop, and then in a separate loop, I am trying to select and submit (and then return to the beginning page) each item in the dropdown menu, one per loop iteration

yeah, but I don't see where you have to restart each loop over items, instead of select -> submit -> select next -> etc, but it might be due to my not knowing any webprog

the issue is, the first loop (the while loop) runs and says "You have 4 dropdown entries". The second loop needs to say "select the first entry, submit the page(basically), return, select the second entry, submit the page, return" until it has done that 4 times

is it OK that your MouseClick calls don't depend on the loop counter?

The issue is, the # of dropdown entries is variable

Yes in the second loop the mouse cursor position needs to be further down the screen depending on the iteration

wait, for n items, you'd have n loops in principle?

so first iteration the cursor would be at y=324, the second would be at y=340, etc.

is that the problem?

for n items I'd have n iterations of the second loop

the first loop determines how many iterations the 2nd loop needs to have

so can't you put all the clicking goodness to the while loop? In the same place where you determine that $hEpisodesAmt++, you can also do all the clicking necessary. You might even have the coordinates at hand

after all most of the information you need is that "we still have something to click"

I'm not really experienced when it comes to writing code that has logic so when I get a piece that works I tend to cling on to it

Are you simply having problems calculating the positions based on the loop variable? That's how I read your message, but that doesn't sound right:)

@AndrasDeak I wrote a loop that goes through a person's file and picks the first item of a dropdown menu and then hits submit so that it can print a form. OK, dandy. Now, I need to make it go through and do that for people who have, say, 3 or 4 items in their dropdown menu. So I wrote a separate while loop to check the number of items in the dropdown menu (I always need to print every item in the dropdown menu, however many there are).

My problem is that the new while loop logic is totally separate from the previous loop that does all the heavy lifting

So even if I transfer the knowledge of the while loop to the heavy lifting loop as, say, a variable, I don't know off the top of my head how to iterate through the loop so that the mouse clicks a different spot on the screen each iteration

first time the loop runs, the mouse should click at y=324. second time the loop runs, the mouse should click at y=340. third time, at y=356, and so on and so forth, for as many times as the new while loop tells it to run

why can't you just set y=308+$loopCounter*16?

this is my issue, this seems very straightforward, so I must be missing something:)

I think most people use it to write bots for games

I'm a little unsure, in your suggestion you mentioned $loopCounter, but such a variable. Were you referring to $hEpisodesAmt?

If so, how do you suggest I chain them together so that as $hEpisodesAmt iterates, $loopCounter does too?

for now I'm keeping both and I'm gonna test it on a person with one entry in the dropdown list
