@KevinGuan uh, Ubuntu seems hellbent on dumbing down the desktop to the point where it is useless for developers

I would perhaps recommend Debian or Mint instead, depending on what exactly you are looking for. Debian + Cinnamon is usable and pretty.

(and if you are saying "GNU/Linux" you seem to be basically saying Debian)

@QPaysTaxes I think Debian is the only platform who consistently uses that, but yeah, it's a good summary of what's in the package for pretty much any Linux distro

I was a Ubuntu user for almost ten years, starting from 4.10 but when they went to Unity, I switched first to XUbuntu and then back to good old Debian, which I was using from 1998 to 2004

though now my laptop is a Mac

@KevinGuan normally, I see @rene making those pull requests, or other room owners asking in the Charcoal HQ. Not 100% if the RO team here wants to have all Smokey requests flowing around, so I'm playing it more safe now

@QPaysTaxes I have pulled some stats and although you're on track I rather have you participate here a bit longer (you're a month short or so) before I grant you access to Smokey from this room. I asked the people in Charcoal to hold the SOCVR PR for now. Sorry about that. cc @KevinGuan @Ferrybig
