@halfer Regarding your edit on this legal question, avoid editing closed questions as they then pop up in the reopen queue. Only edit them if you can make them on-topic without invalidating answers and conflicting against the author's intent.

I've traditionally edited closed questions in order to educate the OP as to the kinds of noise that are discouraged in questions - does the community overwhelmingly prefer I don't do that? They are not attempts to make them on topic - they are often lost causes!

@halfer if it's truly a lost cause, why bother at all? And as @Kyll said: it pushes the question in to the reopen queue. I'm not sure about the number of robo-reviewers there who might reopen it, but at least it's noise there, since even you don;t want it reopened.

Doesn't any edit on a post on-hold make it pop in the reopen queue? If it's a lost cause, then it might be a waste of reviewer's time

@PetterFriberg I vote VLQ because the question is a tool rec. Whether a user has other posts should be irrelevant, since we consider posts, not users. If I decide to post a spam post, it should be spam-nuked, regardless of me having hundreds of posts.

@Adriaan you need to evaluate the intention of the post, it can seem as spam some, but users are just trying to be helpful, it can seem as a valid post but user is just trying to spam, I'm very restrictive now and I do not want to make this choice if the intention is not crystal clear. That's why YES a mod flag is the way to go, not a spam nuke from us, according to me..
