I voted to delete this answer as VLQ. The question asks "Can X be used to achieve something?" and the answer effectively says "no, check this link to solve your problem". I had a dispute with the answerer which put me in doubts whether my decision was correct or not.

Was my vote correct? Or should I act differently? (this was in LQ reviews)

he just slipped with the code, and should've been rejected

and for the record, I think rollbacks are merited if edits introduce factual errors

such as false indentation in python, or erroneous maths in latex-generated images

@rene I disagree. If the link goes stale, then the answer is summed to a plain "No". I remember seeing a meta post about an answer containing only a single "No" (and lots of invisible unicode to pass the minimum content thresholds). It was correct, but not particularly useful.

If the answer contained a "No, use a tool that does that, eg. [some link]" then it would have been useful.

@Fermiparadox If a question asks for a solution to a particular problem, a legit answer can be That problem can't be solved for whatever reason. So I tried to express that No is an answer and as such has value and shoudn't be deleted. That is until someone comes up with a Yes, and here is how

@Fermiparadox for the record, having link format or not doesn't change anything. The point is exactly that if you interpret the answer while ignoring the link's target, does it help?

for instance, if the link is a wikipedia link, then it can easily contain additional information

making it an answer, even if low-quality

The user posted a "abusive" answer there and was blacklisted, Now the question was answered and the post was pushed to the active tab where smokey resides.

Hence smokey caught it. we can remove the blacklist
