if I have trouble, I look at the answer/s and the OPs comments and usually there will be a ton of comments wanting more and more and it tells me the question is out of scope. Too broad etd.

@MsYvette: There was big hubbub when someone didn't like that his answer was put on hold. He asked why it was put on hold in meta, and one of the answers was that the people in the SOCV chat room are close-vote-happy. There was a long discussion that was eventually moved to a dedicated chat room.

What is typed here can stir things up. It would be the first place I would look.

As Tiny said, iirc, if one sees junk they downvote it. They have earned that right. There simply is no easy solution for this predicament

I have downvoted all of the answers to a question that I answered before, in those cases it was always because all of the other answers were complete crap.
