A bit worried about today's, since I answered it days ago.

My best single-day gain is 510; funnily enough only 10 of that is from answer rep, the other 500 came from a bounty awarded to that answer that got the upvote

that answer has gotten me a total of like 1100 - 1200 rep so far

As a technical matter, NAA and VLQ mostly do the same thing behind the scenes (although they're evaluated slightly differently in edge cases) and the same applies to Spam and Rude/Offensive

@DavidG doesn't really matter. If it looks spammy, spam-flag it. If it looks rude/abusive/offensive, use that flag. Otherwise use whichever VLQ/NAA you can hit first.

@Kyll if that's plausible, sure. If it looks like the cat thing, then no - NAA would suffice.

A good criteria would then be a no-badge 1 rep user then

if it's a new user, it doesn't matter (and spam is plausible). If it's someone who has reasonable posts elsewhere, then that spam flag will be declined because it'd mess them up for what was probably an innocent mistake.

Trivia: at one point, spam/offensive were the only flags in the system, so we used them for everything (also, there was no concept of a declined flag). The other flag types were added mostly for the benefit of the flaggers.

I guess it kind of reveals a schism between people who see SO as a site where you learn how to be a programmer vs a site where you strictly learn how to be a better programmer

I would say you can't argue the latter anymore because we have questions like "what is scope" or "how can I nest elements"

In this question, OP tried to define a global but failed. As the syntax is correct, I asked for more data. An answer took a guess and basically told OP to add the files he defines the global in to his package. Answer is accepted, but the question still has no MCVE. What do I do? Edit an imaginary one in?
