@rene Chat's not the issue :-P A lightning strike apparently hit basically on top of us and our surge protection worked great. What we didn't expect was power to surge through our copper phone lines connected to our PCIe TTE cards for time keeping (clocking in and out)

And so much power surged through that it fried the cards and literally burned holes in them

@TylerH Had a boss who didn't surge protect his phone lines. Fried his laptop. Had to do HDD data recovery

Nothing else in the servers were harmed, just the cards

I guess "passively cooled" wasn't enough

at least not enough to handle a million joules

It pays to explain one's reasoning, and I found that flagging boutied question for being duplicates is what has the least amount of success because (I guess) it is the case that requires the most domain-knowledge from the moderator.

@Louis normally what happens when I flag a bounty questions for closure as a dupe is that the flag doesn't get handled until the bounty has ended, and the question has already been closed as a dupe

I get cognitive dissonance when doing LQP review. I'm in a queue called "Low Quality Posts", and I encounter an answer that is extremely low quality - code only, or "Try this" or no explanation - basically a really crappy answer, but an answer nonetheless. It feels wrong to click "Looks OK" for such a thing.

I've started adding the following canned comment to code-only posts, because I can't take just leaving them there. You can make this answer more useful by adding text explaining what this code does and how it solves the problem. Answers that teach are much more useful than code without explanation

Don't know if it qualifies, but this and this look pretty suspicious next to each other.

Memeber for >1.5 years, 7 questions. I'd vote misguided until there's a third (Just my opinion)

6 to one half dozen to the other. you can fall into the trap of moderating the user if you aren't careful

Yeah, I went with benefit of the doubt because the user had a solid history, but I didn't post the user link in here specifically because of the rule to moderate posts and not users.

I did vote recommend deletion in review, though. It's still a link-only answer.
