I'm concerned because one downvote sometimes leads to another. What do you think of the question? Is there anything I can do to improve it?

Still, when I do a Web search for [ download android source code ], almost all the links recommend using Repo and git.

Perhaps Google doesn't publish Android source releases in .zip or .tar.gz formats, at all, ever. Perhaps they simply expect everyone to check their desired Android version out themselves.

@durron597 That'd be a waste of manpower. There are dozens of repositories, and at least one is enormous. I might as well use Google's repo tool to clone them all at once.

Talking _about _them in here does help with our vigilance (more people are alert to troublesome behaviours). I think we then come up with a proper community-based response; either we deal with individual questions & answers, or escalate to moderators via flags and @ messages.

@durron597 Yes, the US dollar is unjustifiably over-inflated. 8) We were in Upstate NY on the weekend, and the exchange rate made all shopping a waste of time. ($1 US ~ $1.40 CAD on credit card).
