I've started work on the console client and once that's working can look at a wasm client for our own chat
Anyone adventurous can try this

and see if you can work it out on how to register, and then post a message
If you crash the server, remember what you did so we can fix it

to try it, at a rebol console, type do <chat>
and see if you can figure out how to register!
The idea is to use it both at the console, and in the web browser using wasm

I recall we had long discussions years ago about using an associative database for chat
so, now it's time to implement!
At present messages are just being stored in the file system
the rebol wasm console is going to need us to wrap the JS read/write functions

As far as I know, devbase chat was never open sourced so ... we need to keep reinventing the wheel
The gpg stuff is mainly there because we don't have https server mode for httpd
so everything is sent in clear text

@Atomica you can't hack mine. You need to provide your own public key. You need your private key to decide the session key I send you.

Probably .. they have their encryption key embedded in the altme binary
which means everyone shares the same key

@GrahamChiu If encryption of a public chat is not necessary, and the chat has a limited number of users, then some cheap handshaking would be 'good enough' for authentication.
Does Ren-C have built-in encryption func?

@Atomica yes, but I don't know if they are exposed. The elliptic curve stuff is not exposed.
As for "good enough" then we want to be absolutely sure who we are chatting with
I don't really like anonymous people chatting to me
they could be grooming me
for a job in python or whatever
And I think it's fair to add an obstacle
here's it's 20 points
And now it's now are you an open source developer? So, do you have a gitlab/github account? If not, we're not interested.
We can let those organisations do the initial screening for us
We really don't want spammers
and the need to start deleting messages etc
Carl's blog is full of spam comments which he hasn't bothered to remove
I'm guessing it's because it's just too much work for him
And not fun.
