Update on reaching the 24-hour point with testing the idea - it's neat to have a reified null reconstituting null at its first opportunity if possible. But a non-decaying falsey nothing is needed for Redbol, which suggests these are two different types. Perhaps _ for BLANK! (reified null, not inert, falsey) and @ for LIT-NULL! (inert, falsey, more like a classical NONE!)

But as I say, the whole point was to come to resolution on the title of the forum thread, which is settled...so this is likely just going to get put on a branch to simmer a bit while more pressing things are attended to.

@giuliolunati Woo! It took a couple hours to poke through it, but on my phone I successfully installed Termux, Hacker's Keyboard, and got through your bash-based build process to launch a localhost-based WASM web repl, with no network connection required!

A few steps that a fresh phone needed, for instance I had to run apt update before vim or git would install. I also had to run termux-setup-storage, and found out that it was ~/storage/shared that mapped to the device's /storage/emulated/0.

It also is warning me that the app was built for an older version of Android when I launch it. But regardless, it worked! Assolutamente fantastico! :-)

@HostileFork My Termux does not show the path like @giuliolunati 's version does. Also it showed an icon in the top line indicating active which I found really annoying. Later I discovered I could remove that by exit ing the terminal.

@iArnold Have you successfully compiled the rebol-server and gotten an r3-console to run locally on your phone w/no internet?

Well I could not find the hackers keyboard or how to install more keyboards. If I want the hacker keyboard in Termux okay but everywhere else I want the standard keyboard so that was unclear to me and then my life called again

@iArnold Well, there you go. I actually like having the hacker's keyboard everywhere, because I text people coding things.

I think I will just stick to the standard keyboard and skip that part and continue with the rest of the drill.

@iArnold Well you will have to run the termux-setup-storage. And when you do, you need to cd ~/storage/shared. That is where you should git clone the rebol-server, otherwise it won't be visible on an "un-rooted" Android phone.

You don't have to install that "Total Commander" program to get at the storage, it's available in settings -> storage

So you would go settings -> storage -> rebol-server -> bin and then install the APK (not the unaligned one)

First issue for the Android Rebol, and first pull request !

@rgchris - From your point of view, what is the status of the httpd.reb that Giulio has embedded in the rebol-server project? I'd like us to find a way to maintain one copy of these files, and keep the projects up to date that depend upon them. I'm not opposed to httpd.reb having its own repo, its own README, its own tests, its own issues and .travis.yml ... and then making it a submodule.

(Also, what is the invalid-utf8 scrubber for? :-/)

I've made a .travis.yml for the Android .APK building process, and enabled it on Travis. It doesn't work... :-) but it's the thought that counts, right?

The SYSTEM/OPTIONS/ARGS and SYSTEM/SCRIPT/ARGS distinction might be more clear if it were SYSTEM/BOOT/ARGS and SYSTEM/SCRIPT/ARGS. I don't know. A lot of people get this mixed up, and I myself wasn't clear on it until I looked into it.

e.g. if you start an interpreter with a certain set of command line options, then the system/script/args and the system/options/args will match at that point. But once you DO/ARGS from within that already running script, system/options/args stays the same from the original invocation...but system/script/args will change.
