Q: Drag and Drop images from another website to mine

I ran a quick google and SO search and found similar questions but none were well formed and most were old and looked abandoned (no answers, and no comments for a while). So here goes... I want to be able to collect the url (only the url) of an image being dropped onto my site from another webs...

like, the data url is being returned from the web service correctly

but when safari renders it, it is physically changing the string of the data url

i can literally open up dev tools, change the last char that is fucked up and the image will load

idk. i just opened up a basic index.html with a hard coded src="base64 string"

display in chrome, not in safari
