I'm writing a cover letter and was wondering, if you changed code for a web app to prevent SQL injection, is it more correct to say you "I assisted in refactoring code for a web app to prevent SQL injection" or "I assisted in recoding portions of a web app to prevent SQL injection"?

I'm not sure recoding is a word but it's meaning is intuitive.
