@Shubhank , my activity resets when orientation changes. i dont want that to happen coz us me service b h..... i tried this
android:configChanges="keyboardHidden|orientation|screenSize"
and this

but no use

when i set my screen orientation to:

CCDirector.sharedDirector().setDeviceOrientation(CCDirector.kCCDeviceOrientationPortrait);

CCLayer is not attaching , entire screen turns to black

But when i set my orientation to :

CCDirector.sharedDirector().setDeviceOrientation(CCDirector.kCCDeviceOrientationLandscapeLeft);

it works properly

Akhilesh, hm. dunno. Um.. if you start off your app in Portrait orientation, then does this happen?

Akhilesh, it's just a hunch, but would be better if you shared more info. Like do you have any errors or does some call fail, can you get more info on why? any logcat messages? etc

if i have set the orientation to potrait , then there should be no issue regarding freeing of memory on orientation change. Eventhough there is nothing like crash

you could add lot of debug statements and look at the output when it fails

Your response wasn't clear :/ 1. If you start the app in portrait orientation, then it doesn't crash 2. After such a start, if you switch orientation, then it crashes -- which of these are true?

No. Actually i want to design this game in potraite mode. So i have set all the screen in potrait mode. Now when the CCLayer attaches it does not appears to be attahed fully,since its showing a black screen only. then i created a demo app and tested on Testobject, it was not running same result. Now I set the orientation to landscape(just for testing), then that demo worked perfectly. Then i changed the orientation of my orignal application to landscape , it worked. But in potrat it is not.

I know that it is wierd and i am giving less info

Akhilesh, I will end up asking lots of questions to understand what you are doing and what exactly is the scenario. Instead, I would suggest that you try to debug more :/ you have the source to cocos2d also, so dig in there too

Nina, enable that _traceExecution, that should atleast help to see which arg does it crash on. And what does the crash say?
