@DanielWiddis You're going to have to wait.. everyone could vote up until that point. Now the votes needs to be counted by little bits that gets executed once they're done. It's a heartless process.
The 40-point candidate score is calculated this way: 1 point for each 1,000 reputation up to 20,000 reputation (20 points); and 1 point for each of the 8 moderation, 6 editing, and 6 participation badges (20 points)
I can't believe How is it possible that Stephen was the last choice on many ballots and some even wanted their nomination to be removed, they flagged it and asked mods on Meta to cancel it, and still Stephen got the most votes.
Well, keep in mind a good part of Stack Overflow probably does not follow the election process at all and likely just votes for the badge, so superficial indicators probably steer a lot
@Scratte: TBH, I don't think I know any of the candidates. I think I had some comment interaction with Zoe on MSE, and the others - I can't remember. Maybe I've been moderated by Ryan.

there's... no data there to really say that people didn't trust the questionair or had any other kind of feeling about the questionair. That someone that didn't fill it out got the most votes, more likely says people don't read it, don't read stats in general, and/or just look at the number in the pretty little box
Keep in mind the main task of a moderator is handling flags, and we have a great moderator team that will probably help educate the new moderators. Even though one was not my favorite choice, I've got 0 indication they'll be poor at the job and sincerely hope they don't feel demotivated by what's being said here. And we already have moderators doing a great job on meta, so being a meta-hound is obviously not a requirement
@KevinB You're right, I didn't really know the people nominated. @Dharma swung by one of my posts recently and told me off for adding fluff to my answer - he was still my No.1 lol

Yeah... that's controlled by your speakers, not by chat. Your OS should allow turning down the volume for a particular app? Windows has that, and so do most Linux desktop environments.

Ah, actually, yeah, my embedded distros even have libalsa. I didn't realize that was provided by Pulse. I've never actually used the package, so I'm not very familiar with it, other than needing to remove it each time. :-)
@CodyGray Eh, before I spread confusion: There is a the kernel component ALSA, which both the soundserver pulse and the ALSA userspace component libasound build upon. Pulse only needs the kernel part, but also provides libasound for compatibility. See e.g. wiki.archlinux.org/title/Pulse </linux_nerdery>
@einpoklum It's worked for me on FF since I installed it a long time ago. It's still working for me on the current FF version. I'll check to see if I changed anything.

Ancient Debian advocate here. I fled the systemd plague when Debian was infacted by it. Obviously I do not use Crapbuntu or any other distro that's infected.
@Zoe Debian started to have systemd around 2007, if I recall correctly. In the beginning it was just a few packages that required it, so you could dodge it. But as the time passe more and more apps needed it. I left Debian when it was obvious there is no return. Some months later, Debian 8 was released, and it was fully infected by systemd.
@Zilog80 I am not advocating any distro, but I use Salix and Slackel, (based on Slackware and Slackware-Current, respectively). Planning to give Voild a serious try.
