Anyway, yeah, don't feel obligated to use the privileges or do anything special. I just did a room owner thingy, and happened to realize that your name was not in italics. I thought that was an unfortunate omission, so I corrected it. You've put so much time into making this room into what it is, and supporting the people who come here for help, that you deserve to have your name italicized to emphasize that contribution.

I don't know what "selyotka" is, but Google suggests it's pickled herring, and... that is definitely not uniquely Russian. In fact, it's quite popular just about everywhere in northern Europe.

I also associated samovars with South Asia, but apparently (at least, according to Wikipedia), they did originate in Russia.

They're quite ugly, in my opinion.

Not sure if it's herring. But it's defintiely some sort of fish. I've never tried it, just heard it as one of the stereotypical Russian side dish. Uh, for vodka, according to the stereotype.

Also, pretty sure Russia didn't invent vodka, either. But it's stereotypical for Russia.

@VLAZ "pelmeni" are definitely not unique to Russian cuisine, just a variation on boiled dough with meat / vegetables / cheese

@CodyGray correct, it's herring, which is certainly not unique to our cuisine (if one such, to be honest, even exists)

btw, herring is pronounced as "selyodka" with "d" in Russian
