Somewhat contra @Catija, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that (ab)using the feature to change your user name after an election is not real abuse, and that the moderator team (the existing one, not even allowing for the possibility that your campaigning worked to elect your top choice) would have no problems whatsoever with it. Frankly, I'd rather see the obsolete information removed from your user name than having it stick around for another 20+ days. @Zoe No tools exist anymore, aside from a moderator's ability to create synonyms and/or merge one tag into another. The tools that used to be available were built and operated by Shog9, who is no longer employed by Stack Exchange. The employees who still work there either don't know how to use the tools, don't have the required privileges, and/or are restricted by policy from operating scripts on their computers with the required level of privileges. Came here from a current case. What I do not like so much about "off-site resource" question is that it encourages link-only answers as well as may get outdated soon, even if it is not opinionated or spam. People don't need answers to "where did [Apple] publish [some lib]?", they probably need answers to "where does [Apple] publish [some lib] now?" and that may be more difficult to keep relevant. Imagine yourself as a reviewer or fellow user that tries to find a duplicate target / do due research before posting / find a general reference in a hurry. A title like "does not work" is not very helpful - that user will have to look at the body. Does nothing happen? Does the app crash? -s there a warning? Should there be one? Now I will never know, and I need a therapist... I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand it is kind of a meta-tag but on the other I think it can be useful in certain situations. If someone is trying to patch a legacy code without upgrading then letting people know is useful, because otherwise, we will suggest more up-to-date solutions. I admire your enthusiasm, but it seems you're treating a moderator position like a knighthood, a title, or a given power, while ignoring the work they have to put in everyday. I like this idea. It is not about "approving the bounty" - it is about approving the question as being OK as being open before it enters a state where it can't (easily) be closed. I don't see elections as being materially different in that regard.
