Note that any user with >= 250 rep has the ability to cast a reopen vote on their own questions, which effectively gives them a one-shot "reopen" button, in addition to the automatic entry into the reopen queue upon the question body being edited by someone who hasn't voted to close or flagged the question, or who is the OP. After looking at discussion, I'm willing to advance two proposals, which are orthogonal. 1- Change the buttons so they are "who & what", rather than just "what" (action will be taken). That would have kept me out of hock, and from the sounds of it, several other people. 2- Change the edit requirements so that if a reviewer wants to make formatting fixes, they can do that without having to dance around the "x number of characters is substantive edit". I'm pretty sure a flag would have worked to solve the problem with the second quoted comment. If it didn't, some moderator was asleep at the wheel. For the first comment, meh. It's a comment. My biggest complaint with it is that it implies using

That is correct. The problem I speak of is when somebody else has their edition approved while you are writing your own edition. This has happened to me as well. When a new edit has been made, I get a big (yellow, I think) bar on the top of the page saying someone else made an edit. To be quite fair, not everybody is aware. "we're closing questions as offtopic" that's true. And we very often close questions as off-topic because they belong on other stacks, not SO. "now we're presenting off topic questions" and hopefully people will learn of these other stacks and ask questions appropriately. At least, I believe this is the idea. I don't not sure if this is the best way to implement awareness is needed. I upvoted this for the first bit, but the advice about not opening a chatroom seems unnecessary; there's no issue with opening a chatroom to discuss a question or work through the question's problem with a user if you are so inclined. In fact it's probably encouraged because it keeps the question side of SO clean and helps the asker get their solution/answer. If a chatroom is opened, and clarifications to the question are made within the chat, those clarifications should be edited into the question so that everyone not in the chat can benefit from the clarification. Fixing stale links should probably just be an edit. The core of the answer is still the same. However, I don't know that the answer should even be updated. @TylerH In such cases, they should be encouraged to post multiple Questions—though a chat room might well be the best place to give them that encouragement and guidance, it shouldn’t replace actually going about posting those Questions, I think. There’s definitely some room there for personal judgment though, and I can imagine circumstances where I wouldn’t bother with multiple Questions and just leave it to chat. So yeah, I agree with that. @KRyan re: multiple question, it really depends. These are usually the users that struggle with posting quality / on-topic questions. Personally I would love to see an option to create a chatroom for every question where users could drop comments out of sight of the main question (chat would load up in a sidebar/column or something). The chatrooms could be accessible from the question page or by searching in chat.SO for them. This way we'd allow for quick, asynchronous, fire and forget conversations with OP via chat that also serve to cleanup comments that may be too chatty or are temporal such as clarification questions/requests or even partial/whole answers. These suggested edits are liable to be rejected, since they take reviewers time for something that need to be edited by the author. If the edit is approved after the question is closed, the question will be pushed to the reopen queue, wasting even more time and depriving the user of a real chance of getting their question reviewed on the reopen queue. The suspension is long for two reasons: to give you an opportunity to actually see the suspension message (if the suspension were short and you didn't attempt to review during that time, you would never know of it and would never have the chance of learning how to improve as a reviewer; and there is currently no other way for a mod to communicate this to you), and because likely there were other review suspensions in your recent past you had already missed, so a longer suspension was due to make it more likely you saw it at all. — yivi 1 min ago

Yes, there are many problems regarding review. The first comment links to a Q&A that deals with some of those. Better not to focus on those now, but instead on how to review better in the future. I don't understand how "Convert PHP Code to Python" is supposed to be a better title than "I don't know, how I Converting PHP Code to Python?", they are both too general to be of any help. Stack Overflow is no conversion service, so a general "convert code" question (which could warrant such a title) is off-topic any way, no matter how you phrase the title. When OP has a specific question (which would be on-topic), then this should be the title, not the general situation where they encountered the problem. — Tom 1 min ago
