@Makyen Hope you don't mind the mod abuse superping. You were curious about the project I'm working on.. it's somewhat at MVP stage. The integration with burnaki is still very flakely. However, I've got something working: Current burnination progress. Any feature requests/bugs, please raise here.

Basic gist of it is, a way to track burnination requests. Every hour, the service crawls meta looking for burnination/retag/synonym requests. Once a 'rodgort' admin confirms which tags are relevant, the tag(s) will be tracked every hour. Some useful things off the bat: Finding completed requests with no status-* applied, and burned tags which have re-appeared

And as a last minute thing, a leader board based on what Burnaki reports

Yep. There's a bunch of triage work. '1374 require tag approval' basically means we've seen 1374 requests with tags, but no one has yet marked which tags require tracking. Hoping to bulk import that sort of information from the trogdor worksheet

The 'completed but still have approved tags with questions' is something it's picked up that should be pretty actionable

@Rob Yeah, for at least a significant number of them the Trogdor worksheet should have good information, but the "Tags OK" column should be checked to verify that it says "Yes".

Ideally, that's what it can work towards. We'd at least have evidence of the tag continually re-appearing

The trogdor sheet might be a bit tricky to import, but I'll have a look at that once most of the system is stable. It works for the most part, albeit ugly. The chat stuff needs to be re-written, but other than that..

It's mostly quality of life stuff

But yeah, since you're pretty active in SOCVR and burns, I'd appreciate any feedback you've got

True. The impression of happening rapidly was probably increased by just coming off the huge and long lasting design burn. That was significantly more than long enough such that it was easy to fall into a pattern of activity.

Yeah, that was mostly my fault, got kinda put onto that burn since other mods were on vacation. It seemed to be going steady, then I got busy at work when it died down

Nah, it was good. It was only lagging for a few days at the end. That appeared to be significantly contributed to by some people getting busy in real life. I expect there were still a large number of questions that could have been closed. OTOH, people were starting to get a bit tired of it.

Yep, that's true... while there are still questions that could possibly have been addressed, it's (at least in my opinion) good to keep the community engaged rather than sticking to the same tag for too long. Anyways, we've got a nice and small tag to focus on now :)

And maybe it'll drive engagement having a 'leaderboard', but I'll be keeping a close eye on it.. I don't want people to be closing/deleting questions just to be on top

The other thing it addresses is burns starting before the community agrees. I'm not into naming and shaming, but it'd be good to have some insight there. Still working through the details of how/what is publicly shared

@Rob Yeah, it can be a difficult balancing act between gamifying something so that people are more interested without making it such that people step outside the bounds of what's acceptable in order to "win". Normally, it's something that needs to be tweaked as you see what's happening.

I guess.. there's some accountability if I personally make that information easily available, whether or not it's already public or not

And I don't want to release a tool that makes it easy to focus on a user who's (in all good intentions), starting a burn prematurely

So, it may turn out that I only show actions made after a burn starts, unless they're part of a select group (likely to be trogdor ROs)

@Rob My gut feeling on that is that A) it's really good to get that information. B) it would be reasonable to restrict the information significantly, perhaps to just moderators, but it shouldn't be made publicly available on a large scale. It would probably be OK to have it available to the same group that you are considering admins. Those people should know that it's really up to moderators to handle. They should know that public shaming is not the way to handle it.
