I heard there's some specific case (in Germany) where anti-discrimination laws are actually dangerous for employers. Not in IT though.

The assistant of a dentist may not do certain tasks when pregnant. So she gets maternity leave much earlier than usually. Now the dentist of course wants to hire a replacement for that time. But he's not allowed to ask if she's pregnant.

Guess what happens: He hires someone, cannot ask her, and soon after being hired she can reveal her pregnancy, making her unsuitable for the job she just got hired for...

usually it is 3-6 months here depending on the workplace and if a union is involved it is a few years :P
