Which version of jqGrid you use (can use)?

What questions you want to ask me?

I'm not a JS person; I'm a Java programmer in a small shop that needs help with their JS stuff

In XML config I see <add-attribute value="jqGrid" />

that's as close as I see to inclusion of a library

I also see attributes of "/js/jquery/jquery-ui-1.12.1/jquery-ui.min.js"; was looking for some similar file inclusion for jqGrid, but don't see one. So what should I look for?

jqGrid is pure JavaScript product. You need load it in HTML page. For example you can load free jqGrid from CDN (see the wiki). See simple example of usage here

um, jquery -- it's spelled right in the JSP

In general I publish free jqGrid to many repositories: see the README github.com/free-jqgrid/jqGrid. For example to Maven Central: search.maven.org/#search%7Cga%7C1%7Cfree-jqgrid

I'll keep it in mind. The fact that it's still supported would be a plus.

I'm sure our situation is all too typical -- 10-year-old code written by people who didn't document anything and are long gone.

Which version of jqGrid you used before? You need just open jquery.jqgrid.min.js and you will see the version in the comment at the beginning of the file

I Figured it was 4.7.0 from the filename, but of course one shouldn't trust that

we're in the process of upgrading the versions on various software -- tomcat, java, js, etc.

jqGrid 4.15.2 is the current version of my fork. It's compatible with jqGrid 4.7 and in 99% of cases one need just replace the files of change URLs which loads jquery.jqgrid.min.js and ui.jqgrid.css (ui.jqgrid.min.css)

The file grid.locale-en.js isn't not needed if you need EN-US locale

ok, will keep it in mind. Obviously I don't make the decisions about which versions of JS plugins we use...

But I can point out to my boss/team lead that that exists and has someone still working with it.

You are welcome! In any way old jqGrid is dead and not supported after the post trirand.com/blog/?p=1438 You (or your company) should make a choice between "free jqGrid" and "Guriddo jqGrid JS", both from there are followers of jqGrid 4.7.

old jqGrid still has some life as long as shops like mine keep using it, I guess...

Software product is dead if it will be not supported, will have no bug fixes and will have no following releases. If jqGrid 4.7 will displays for example wrong results in new version of web browser (Chrome and Firefox will be updated every 1.5-2 months) then you will have to upgrade the lates version of "free jqGrid" or "Guriddo jqGrid JS".

I mean the case close to the problem described in stackoverflow.com/a/10621951/315935. jqGrid rendered wrong in new version of Chrome. I posted the fix, which was included in jqGrid 4.3.3, which was published. There are exist the risk of close problem every 1.5-2 months even if you don't change your old product

Additionally old latest versions of "free jqGrid" or "Guriddo jqGrid JS" supports the latest versions of jQuery, jQuery UI and Bootstrap.

I agree it would be a good idea. I just don't get to make the decision.
