Hmm I can remember within VS2013 you could see if a method was being used. (x) references.
Why is it turned off by default in VS2017 and where can I turn it on :p

Yep. If you're doing UI testing, Enterprise edition provides that
Otherwise Pro is sufficient
You may not need Rider. It's a competing IDE to VS
