I had a similar thing from a friend of mine. He had a junior colleague in his team and the process was that every client communication of her needs his approval. At some point she complained that he is constantly correcting everything and he was like: Maybe you learn the grammar of your mother tongue and start to use a spell checker and read your own writings at least once?!

i hate writing unit tests for front end code

@ballBreaker I've never written front end tests. Never seen the point.

yeah there's only 1 repo for the entirity of front end and its like 10 people coding in it

its quite the beast

idk the point of unit tests imo is to make sure one little change somewhere doesn't fuck shit up but I've never had that happen with frontend

yeah components are usually quite isolated

it either works or doesn't, never any uintuitive side effects

that being said there is adefinitely a lot of interconnected complex components in our app

we also have e2e integration tests that were automated recently for regression testing

If I'm ever working on frontend again (in a big team) maybe I'll see the benefit

at the very least its just good practice for stability -especially when you have clients that use the application and drive revenue

@JBis widget tests for flutter are quite useful, ex. I tested a scenario that the correct screen appears whenever we have an error and the main screen is not shown

If you're writing UI tests for something which will change a lot because of designer changes, then you're wasting your time

If it'll be consistently used for 6 months or more, it might be nice knowing that any changes made by yourself or a team member hasn't altered the look / behaviour by accident

I used to be very much "whats the point of tests" at the start of my career to "whats the point of UI tests" to "test anything which can be tested which we're keeping for an long period of time"
