she had a lot of "you aren't going to want to hear this" advice that was really helpful for getting some perspective on it, and the main takeaway was kind of surrounding the idea that I'm looking for forgiveness from them, that is out of my control.. and I need to find how I can give that to myself. That I have expectations for friendships that aren't being met by any of the parties, and which are all mostly out of my control due to a difference in values

so basically I need to take a step away from it like how I have been, and continue to work through my own side of things. If they reach out to me for information, then provide it... or if I feel up to it, give them my perspective and basically let them know I'm willing to do my side of the repair process, but I can't if they aren't willing.. and they can hmu when they're ready, otherwise it is what it is

@twiz no I ended up deciding that I was too on the fence about what to do, so I decided to just step back and cease contact with them all until I can sort my thoughts/feelings out before acting on anything

there is software level control of it too though, if you have a device volume and a speaker volume separately, but for bluetooth (I might be wrong) my assumption is that when you increase the volume on your phone it syncs with the bluetooth to turn up the speaker itself

so then changing volume on transmitter or speaker shouldn't make a difference. But I've found if I put transmitter very low volume and Bluetooth high, I get distortion.

TBF though my knowledge of how speakers work is really limited to wired speakers

for example, on a record player.. a lot of them have built in "pre-amplifiers" before the signal hits the speaker.. this is because the signal output from the record player is very weak , so it goes through a pre-amp to amplify the signal before sending it to the speaker. I think for the case of a phone, it essentially does the pre-amp portion itself through software

@twiz yeah on the BT one I use, turning it up on the phone turns up the speaker volume, and turning up the speaker turns up the phone volume so they're definitely coupled
