I would like to select/match name using prefix, for example if there are multiple records with names starting with "joe" i would like to select all of them efficiently without iterating all the records. yeah I'd say 1000 is too low

O(n^2) is still pretty fast with 1000 records

try at least 10k or 100k

when compared to say nlogn

You could try to make multiple benchmarks like

1k records, 10k records, 100k records

Also, run them more than once

i did multiple benchmark iterations and took min-max values as far i remember

but I've done that in the past, worked directly in C loops w/ openGL to make my own renderer, but fuck that
