@MarkO'Sullivan there was a code running a few years ago on SO, for JPEG compression, by reducing the quality of the jpegs to an unnoticeable extent. 2Mb jpegs usually became 50k. If i find it on my external HDD i'll link it here

there are many compression algorythms out there

but 23mb won't ever be less than 100k without quality loss

we compress our 2732x2732 splash screens and they end up being 170kb-ish lossless.

resizing it to max 256x256 will make it 100x smaller already. Maybe he won't need a fancy compression algo

In my recycler view. I have a class named Stores with a destination LatLng for each recycler view I need to use Google direction API to determine the distance between the user location and the store location. So for each store distance calculation the Google direction API needs to be called. So which means that if there are 100 stores then 100 requests
