Found my problem with Multidex - previous developer had included the entire set of google play services rather than just GCM. Instead of cutting down libraries he just upped the method count :P

Oh nice. That's happened to me before, it's tough working with libraries for that reason.

Or if you import like three libraries and the AppCompat but realize each of your libraries in turn requires AppCompat. :|

when my app crashes it shows the prompt

then it goes into that loop of crash

my workaround to stop this is to uninstall the app then run again
