lol nah it's just a specialized image for every minute of the day, a image clocks in at around 300kb, so 1440images * 125kb = 432Mb, which is okay for me, but not okay for any of my friends

I can get lossless compression that gets my images down to 125kb, but still, 125kb * 1440 = 180Mb, which is still crazy huge, I was wondering if there was a way I could super compress the images into an ISO file, and have android decompress it whenever a specific image is needed -> because not every image will be used simultaneously anyways

You can't get a broadcast when someone starts any other app. The only thing you can do is start a service that polls and periodically checks if new apps have been started (using Reno's code above for example). writing external storage is always needed afaik

only the places you are allowed to write into are limited on >4.3 to <5.0
