I'm gonna make a meta post about using the name/logo and if we need to contact anyone.

Right now we're just finalizing some things before releasing an initial beta and we realized we may need permissions to use the Stack Exchange name or logo in our app. What are the rules from this?

Essentially our logo may include the Stack Overflow 3 bars and we will include the site's name in the About section and in the app description.

So what are the rules regarding this? Is there anyone in particular we need to contact?

I could totally see them getting mad over the logo thing since SE has their own app that they probably want people to use

They don't have a chat app, and there's no official API.

Actually I don't think we need to since we're not using their name in our logo and not using their logo in our logo. We're using something similar, that's it tho.

it's more of a legal trademark issue, they could submit a takedown request for your app if they catch wind of it
