Hello, I am new here and I would like to ask about JAX-RS web service. I have created a web dynamic project with jsp. The thing is after I build my resources, I am now adding a web client in the Controller folder but something in head is telling me that may not be the right thing. As I don't have anyone helping me in studying programming, I am relying on forums for help.

but for some reason it always returns false

Like to the extent Java and JavaScript or Java and C# is; the syntax is one thing, yes, but they can share a codebase

You can call Kotlin from Java and Java from Kotlin without using something like the mess you find in JNI

The reason so many Kotlin questions are also tagged java is because there are many cases where the question either asks about something related to Java/Kotlin interaction, or that contain Java both java and Kotlin code

I am pretty skeptical about that answer you have just given @Zoe: "they're not separate languages" and for the questions I am seeing, the part relevant to the question doesn't span multiple files.

My gut feeling is that when dealing with one file your question should be tagged only with the programming language contained in that file. Kotlin contains syntax that is not valid in Java, and I assume the converse is also.

They're not the same in syntax, and that way they're separate. But since Kotlin compiles to JVM bytecode, it's not as "bad" as with C/C++: they actually share the SDK without making a ton of reflection calls

The java tag is only valid assuming it's directly related to Java though. Just like an IDE tag is only valid if the question is about the IDE. Meaning you can have questions that are tagged with both validly

That ^ for an instance is tagged both Kotlin and Java, because it's a question about calling Kotlin extension functions from Java. Both languages are actively involved and the post is tagged correctly

The VM is the binder between the two languages which is why it's even sensible tagging it with both.

Judging by some of those questions I wouldn't be surprised if it is their first programming language. Kotlin seems like a strange choice for a beginner to start learning how to program.

you can write int[] data = {0, 0, 0}; or data = new int[]{0,0,0}; in Java... but definitely not [0,0,0] or without semicolon. even data = {0, 0, 0}; wouldn't work, since it's not a declaration.
