Hi guys, I am new to java and I had a semester project in it. I did all the code but now I open terminal and head over to the directory and then execute java App.java and I get errors at all places where I try to use classes from other file in the same directory. This does not happen while executing from VSC though. Any idea?

@CoolCloud when you run java App.java you run that App.java "class" file

... in isolation

meaning ONLY that SINGLE file

what you need to do is generate a .jar fom your project

then you can run java -jar App.jar

the jar would contain your pre-built application

if you use maven, you would run mvn package to create the jar

if you use other tools, then you have to figure out how to generate the jar for those

there is also one more thing which is how to handle the dependencies of your jar, but that is step 2

in maven for example, you can configure your pom to generate a fat jar (a jar that contains your code and all the dependencies)

@Wietlol Oh, so when we click on a jar file will it be same as running it from VSC, like a terminal would open up?

Also I did not use any build tools like maven

BTW is there a way to make constants file like in python we would make all constant types of variables in that file, since java is OOP only, I was wondering

you could, but generally speaking, you rarely should
