For this i am storing each start and end position in Integer ArrayList , Now for example if user change any value on edit text , on that time that position is not going to work, which is obvious, I want to maintain position when user change value of edit text, it will be my pleasure if any one can help

@Dhruti Yes it's not a good idea, i could not find any better solution for this, so i go with it, and if we set spannable on text changed again than it will cause StackOverFlowException which is not good, in but in facebook android application we can see tagging is done on comment box, and they have done it perfectly without any error, i want exact functionality in my application

@Prabuddha Please stick to English as much as possible in chat rooms. If it's brought to my (or any other SO mod's) attention that you're using Hindi in here again the room will be frozen. Keep it up and it will be deleted.

@rlemon As I said above, the stuff I see flagged is where people are using a language other than English to post inappropriate stuff - be that spam or other things. That's why we discourage it.

@rlemon Unless you have mods in all rooms 24/7 it's going to be hard to police. The basic thing to remember is "don't take the piss". So while non-English is discouraged, if you're not engaging in appropriate behaviour then you're OK.

@ChrisF yea fair, but from an outsiders perspective I do feel like it should be an all or nothing kind of deal. or at least there should be guidelines about how to chat in a different language on the FAQ (where, if you must do it, it is appropriate)

Think of it like this - would you be happy posting something if you knew everybody in the room was going to be able to understand it? If you are then OK. If you're trying to hide what you are posting then it's probably best not to post it in the first place.

as a frequent chat user I've seen cases where two users go into a room because one doesn't speak english and they are getting honest help -- someone a few hours later flags and someone is suspended unjustly. <- just an example of the system working in a negative way

@SilentKiller As I said - as long as there's an attempt to converse in English first and the Hindi isn't inappropriate then OK - but you have to remember that SO is an English language site. You also have to remember that stuff that isn't in English generates a disproportionate number of flags.

@Mr.Alien yes, when I joined SO, I was one of the user speaking in Hindi, Gujarati but then gradually, slowly I started in English and believe me I always ask people to speak in English here in rooms but something I allow them to have non-english chats.

As that will not be helpful for SO's basic motto for any develper to get help.

now say a random user dropped in here by searching for same words and he will see hindi, so he will be like wtf, I can't read this..so SO tends to target future users more and not just the user who asks for help temporarily
