@Tiffany Yes, that is true. From what I can tell there is no way of specifying a variadic argument. I read the documentation for function_arguments and the rfc for named params but it's not really explicit.

Does anybody know which PHP version runs on php.net? The README states: "Code must function on a vanilla PHP 7.2 installation." But do we really still run 7.2 there?

@IGP that's where docs can be cloned. Depending on how much you change, it may be preferable to set up a local environment to test the changes. The local environment uses doc-base to validate the XML, then uses phd to render the docs into a viewable format (e.g. XHTML or PHP, but XHTML is easier to deal with since it doesn't require a web server)
@cmb Wasn't it @Derick who moved all our infra and killed mirrors to make https everywhere? Pretty sure we updated the de-facto PHP.net version when we did that to whatever was the latest at the time.
@MarkR Using a stable, supported OS version is an industry best practice ^_^. We should probably migrate to Debian 11 soon though because 10 goes EOL in a few months, I think?
Yes, the LTS is not supported by the Debian Security Team, but instead by a private company. The updates are available using the standard package servers, though.
I can certainly recommend upgrading before the LTS comes into effect. In my experience the Debian updates have always been very smooth.
@TimWolla I run Debian unstable, as that's much smoother to update. I can attempt a normal upgrade for this server, but I need to figure out how to get console access first.
