@Danack thx for the example. both you and @Tpojka create the entity first then work with it. I think now that haveing a virtual entity management layer is something that if i want it i should make it myself. but then i can beter write my own framework. and as you both use a create method to eventualy make the entity in db i think that its the standard api like system that everyone does. beter go with the standard and what everyone else does.

but yes, it would be at least a slight performance penalty to arrays as these are currently highly optimized to only distinguish str and int

@IluTov you could for example store a flag in Z_EXTRA(bucket->val) to distinguish string and enum key - but well, it's extra branches

The most problematic part impl. wise is checking all the array iterating codes

I seem to remember from using it to test connection handling, that blocking new connections would happen if you add / enable the rule after having already established the first.

You need to profile 'normal' behaviour then multiply it out. A site where people are landing on a page and then watching a video for 10 minutes, then moving to another page, is a very different profile to one where they're clicking through 10 posts a minute like reddit

the thing is these users will only be using our system for a matter of 8 hours whilst an event is happening, so i scale my server for the 8 hours to this Memory-Optimized

read up on "scaling up vs scaling out"

if it doesn't require too much re-engineering of the app, there are advantages to having a number of smaller servers sharing the load rather than one very beefy one

even if it's just manual, if you can set up with two servers, it's easier to add a third than to change the spec of a single server

When using a managed service like digitalocean, you can have an autoscaling system set up in under an hour :)

I don't much about Digital Ocean, but in AWS, an auto-scaling group is just a template for a server, and a way to deploy code to it

I like DO more than AWS. AWS requires credit card information and can charge me 10k if I make a mistake. Digital Ocean emails me and tells me I need to approve the charge to my PayPal before it'll process.

its a 1 day trianing event, with speakers and audience, which has admin panel and visitor panel Q&A etc so it will have alot of web calls , not much data being transferred but qt of calls will be high

i jsut want be safe that it doest crash on the day

@IMSoP It's still common to have containerised applications run on a VM, without the overhead of an orchestrator. I run 90% of the workloads of my VM containerised, but not K8S

@IMSoP it's frustrating that I had to buy a prepaid debit card to prevent accidental overcharging with AWS. I'm assuming even if I used a credit card with Digital Ocean, it would tell me beforehand of potential extra expenses. But I dunno. Other services I've used PayPal with will auto-charge like a subscription, but DO doesn't and after trying out AWS, I really appreciate how DO works.

@n4zg well, if your content is static, and you have Cloudflare, just make sure your caching is configured properly, and your server will see barely any traffic at all

only the web api calls, will be beast server for the 8 hours handle 1000s of calls per minute

its the cheapeast option, i only need it for a day

@PeeHaa yeah, but I am not happy with the contributions I made, I would like to improve on them and make them more similar to the codebase they are part of. I will work on that in the next few days. And if you have any resources and tips that can help me, that would be great.

@n4zg Again, it's profiling. I'm lead engineer for a live streaming company and our servers handle 10s of thousands of people making a combined million requests per minute, but it took a metric shit-ton of profiling and bottleneck elimination to get there. I remember the struggles getting it to support a few hundred, then a thousand, then 5 thousand, 10,000 etc. You absolutely must profile.

@Danack I can see it from two sides: the person wants privacy and there are reddit caching sites, deleting after a couple of days is probably an easier way to avoid caching sites. However, it is frustrating.
