@JoeWatkins I dunno, I'm not good at writing tests in general. Someone offered to do it once but the architecture was in such flux at the time that it didn't make much sense (it was intentionally broken daily). Now that's not true, and I can't remember who offered.

I would do it myself but I have such a long list of frankly more important things to do...

@Shafizadeh actually the industry standard is to use spaces instead of tabs. You can set your IDE to transform "Tab-key" into 4 spaces, which helps with it. It's covered under PSR-1 and PSR-2.

A JS variable can only exist in a JS process. However you can of course have the same values in other environments and PHP can serialize PHP variables to a JSON string, This string can be parsed by a JS process into a variable again.

That is what happens with var thing = <?php echo json_encode($array);?>

Either you get all the data to the client, no filters attached, then sort/filter client-side based on the user's inputs

Or you wait for the user to click on a filter/sort, then you send a request to the server and it will return the correct data for the passed filters/sorts

Then you're going to have an endpoint like get-chart-data.php, and it will accept query parameters like ?x=gender&y=kills,deaths

The client then gets the JSON response, and is able to modify the chart to include this new data.

It's really great you want to start digging into it, and I can only recommend you do just that. Programming is fun and amazing. I think you can find most of what you need by searching.. you might also run into shitty resources, but that is also part of learning to diff the shit from the not shit

Do some code, get some feedback from other people and that can also help you diff what is good practice and what might not be
