But local wildlife have also gained more experience. We lost no crop at all last year - probably because neighbourhood animals didn't know it was edible. This year, we have lost 20% of the sunflowers (like each sunflower was 20% eaten on average).

To make it worse, we only do routine watering, fertilising & check up on the sunflowers, wildlife can work full time on stealing our crop.

Same with our sweet potatoes - great on the first year, but lost to the rats & flood on the 2nd year.
