A company I have been at recently has a "calculation department". They are in charge with developping flight systems, ie do all control laws and complicated maths stuff. They are considering to launch a new product which uses AI/ML: and vision. They have absolutely 0 experience in that field.
So they want their calculation team to develop all algorithms for the ML and vision part.

They said that there are already existing ML and vision nodules in Matlab so it should be totally doable. Meaning the software department will only be a bunch of coding monkeys

Typically it is the sw engineering dept that does the ML/vision algorithms and implements them as well

There are many binary representations of character data. Why pick a particularly inefficient one? I think you accidentally answered "how to treat text as a number sequence and then print these numbers in base-2 number system". I know that "base-2 numbers" are often dubbed "binary numbers" but "binary data" most definitely does not refer to that. [Also, you have a catch-22 problem, because now you've converted your number sequence to text (a string of 0s and 1s). Uhm. How are you going to convert that text to binary?] — sehe 3 mins ago

@Mikhail Yeah, just pass it a container: godbolt.org/z/WcKqPqhP4. You can expect the array appraoch to have no overhead. In fact, you can see all of these optimized away pretty decently.
Well. I'm disappointed the allocations aren't all gone. Perhaps I need a special optimizer flag. Or clang. I don't remember
(Also notice that the foo("123") includes the NUL byte into a 4-byte span)
