I don't know, stacking bricks correctly using the correct cement and stuff isn't that trivial. Also I think people moved away from stacking bricks in favor of steel because it allows for bigger windows.

I probably have. Generally damaged walls can be detected by looking at the wall or taking some drill samples. No need for electronics. Don't forget you now not only need to maintain the wall for 100 years but the electronics inside it as well.

We have scientists that kinda know what you should and should not be eating when. The process of taking what they know and giving people a product they can benefit from is pretty shitty. It relies on every single individual to double-check the product which is simply not happening.

Computers are 99% idle and the ways to donate your computing power seem lacking.

I m not very familiar with how debuggers work. But if you want to debug, you compile with -g meaning nothing gets optimized out (I think).

Also, why don't you have the callstack? (due to some optimization?)

It's FreeRTOS where you have tasks (basically threads, but not parallelism) that each have a stack size and you have to specify that. If the number is too small the program crashes sometimes with a notification that there was a stack overflow and sometimes it just ends in a hardfault handler without any information. And if the number is too big you get told there is not enough space. So you binary-search all the task sizes. And if you change any code you get to start over.

Also it doesn't help that I don't even know which numbers make sense to change. Especially when I'm left in one of those hardfault situations that don't show a cause.

That's my full stack trace. None of the code is from me.

And by "from me" I mean part of the code base I'm working on. It's all FreeRTOS internals.

Also you get someone who tweaks the numbers, it works, you change some small detail, it stops working, you change it back, it still doesn't work anymore. There is so much I don't understand here and it makes it very annoying.

A tool that would at least be able to debug stack and heap overflows while keeping a call stack would help immensely.
