@sehe Probably more so, if anything. At least your Boost wanking is usually dealing with things like parsing that people honestly do and care about. Mine (especially what I link) tend to be about things like details of overload resolution and such.

Honestly, in most cases there if you care, you're doing something wrong (unless you're actually writing a compiler, or something on that order).

for only 96Gb and 0 Data rollover

Just fixed a bug Apparently in python3 doing shutil.rmtree(Path('', '')) would be similar to rm -rf /

ENV variables weren't properly passed to a sudo script so I effectively executed sudo rm -rf /

The only good thing is that I was running this in a container so hopefully no harm was done

thought I did push and released the image on dockerhub so I sincerly hope nobody deployed a server during that time in production as it could result in remove everything

My older iPhone is on a $100 per 6 months prepaid plan. It's with the biggest telco in the country.

I am quite happy with their services.

The $150 for a year prepaid plan is with the second biggest telco, and it's an introduction deal.

I probably will get a new phone next year, I will just buy it outright. I don't really need a new phone though.

This $80 post paid deal really pissed me off - sucky phone, weak reception, not low price. Constant reminder that I am an idiot.

So I will pay $100 x 2 + $150 = $350 per year for 2 phones with country's biggest telco & country 2nd biggest telco. And I will get a new high end phone when there is a good deal ... or maybe I wouldn't.

C++ Boost warning: comparison is always true due to limited range of data type

I get it when I convert a ptree to json encoded string

any way to avoid this warning?

Going into the header file boost/property_tree/json_parser/detail/write.hpp:37 loks liek

disable warning for external headers :P or use property tree with wstring, hehe

because if in "c <= 0xFF" the c is a char then of course the comparison is always true

Is it because of comparison between well unicode related and ascii

but if you instantiate that template with wstring it would be wchar and that specific warning might disappear. Making your code more inefficient just to appease warning seems silly though

So during comparison is it cause string can hold unicode characters but the comparsion is done with a normal char that can hold only 8 bits and not represent all the unicaharacters?

no std::wstring doesn't normally store utf-8

it's utf-16 on windows and utf-32 on linux

I mean the standard just says "wchar" and doesn't further mention encoding but I'm just talking in practical tems

encoding in C++ is just a pain. I guess strings in general. There's a reason why each and every larger C++ codebase has their own string type

Not really sure how that solves anything. If I control all the input and output I'm going to use utf-8, but the world isn't so neat

That said, I tend to have the opposite problem: I really start to care about the details of everything I work on, even though at an intellectual level I know they're pretty much silly trivia to the rest of the world.

I'm glad that I'm playing a small part in making the tool better (and also the package index)

@Morwenn Making life (a little) better for the world in general (conan is becoming pervasive enough that I suspect almost all of us use something that depends on it).

Maybe that will be true in 5 years if it's still there

I've had to package ~20 myself for work, and I'm constantly working around issues

Now to be fair most of the issues are linked to the build files of the many projects not designed to work with package managers
