Yes. It's almost September and still no new information.

@Rick I started out as a physicist, some of my students respond really well to me talking about how the world is constructed. Then we break it down in to for loops =) Many don't appreciate the holistic view. I imagine you'd fall in the first category.

"Ubuntu Core is meant for IoT and not "any computer". Mostly headless applications I think so if you need screen output I would use Ubuntu Mate"

I am tempted to get Ubuntu core, but it looks like MATE is more user friendly if one does not currently know exactly what it is going to be used for.

@Rick Depends on what you want, I suppose. My personal preference is to be a relatively low-density area, but close enough to higher density to have good shopping and such easily available as well. From my house, it's around half an hour to either country farms or big malls and such.

I none the less, I think living in a small town with low population density next to a large metropolitan area, preferably a large city would be the best of both worlds.

@Rick Not a big treat for me either, but my wife likes them, and I prefer when she's happy. More important to me are some more esoteric places (e.g., good camera repair shop, astronomical telescope dealer) that I can find here, and really couldn't in Colorado Springs.

There is this one Jesuit monastery among the cliffs overlooking the ocean. I got the most beautiful pictures without even trying.

That's a good point, lighting is important, I usually get the best shots near dusk, colors tend to be softer. I have a preference for low shutter speeds.

@Mikhail you think so, I didn't really care for the monastery itself, it was just a bunch of wooden buildings, I just cared about the cliff overlooking the ocean.

Last time I was there the monks/guys were on a vow of silence.

@Mikhail Not just the ones who originally built it. They're old enough that it's a matter of centuries of maintenance, refurbishing, and sometimes completely rebuilding at least a few times. So, you're stealing from generations of artists.

For what it's worth, I think my favorite mission (at least for photographs) is in Arizona, not California though (Mission San Xavier del Bac, near Tucson). The weather there probably helps preserve it better (but if memory serves, it's also been rebuilt at least once or twice).

Howdy folks. I got a tutorial VC++ project online that depends on Windows.h. I added the include directory (manually, without aliases) C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Include\10.0.17763.0\um. Now, aside from the fact that Windows.h cannot find the dependency sdkddver.h it also throws error "E0059 function call is not allowed in constant expression". Any hints?

I don't know anything about C++ But I'd say that some kind of const expression is trying to call a non const expression/code which would invalidate the const premise

In other words, if you're in a const context (immutable) you cannot call a non const method because that cannot ensure that everything is immutable.

here the function mutate wouldn't be allowed and the compiler could reduce the expression to "x is 1"

@JerryCoffin I don't like it, I feel it's too noisy, like a house full of mismatched dolls. I never really understood that style, where they have so many statues all over the place, and none of them seem to fit the overall theme. It seems post-soviet if you ask me. Why can't they unify the design and have one big statue in the middle, made out of gold or bronze and eliminate all the background noise by removing the smaller statues?

@Rick Oh, I hardly took any pictures of the interior. I did find the exterior of the buildings fairly nice though. Quite a contrast--the exterior is bright and simple, while the interior is dark and cluttered.

There's also a mildly interesting question. When I visited there (1988) all the pictures I took were on film. Is it worthwhile to get the film scanned, or should I just take another trip there?
