If you were kicked out for committing a crime that might worry them, but an administrative discharge typically means you did something that non-military organizations typically couldn't even legally take into account on an evaluation, or ask about in an interview (e.g., "it had no effect on job performance, but he let his hair get so long it touched his ears, and he came to work with his clothes wrinkled.")

@LightnessRacesinOrbit The point is that most can and do follow instructions perfectly well, but have some ability to discriminate between what matters and what doesn't. At least when I was in the military, "doing well" mostly meant doing well at the crap that anybody with an IQ higher than his hat size realized was utterly irrelevant nonsense.

@JerryCoffin If you apply to work for an organisation that has a rule, it is your responsibility to follow that rule. If you can't follow the rule, then that is a reflection on self. You can't just decide for yourself that the uniform code isn't important and ignore it.

As an employer I would certainly care if someone had done that.
