... oh really. VS uninstall doesn't seem to have gotten rid of some registry stuff, and apparently VS installer thinks it should patch the headers instead of actually install / copy them there.
Well I'm looking at the "opening a stream" part (xmpp.org/rfcs/rfc6120.html#streams-open) and I don't understand why the xlmns is jabber:client in the response instead of jabber:server

For some reason, defining things in a namespace in a different file sometimes works using ns::name and sometimes namespace ns {name}. It's kind of disappointing when one works for a while, then one randomly gives a linker error.
This is a known bug under MinGW. Relevant Bugzilla. In the comments section you can get a patch to make it work with MinGW.

It seems as of MinGW-w64 4.8.0 it's working (std::stoi, std::to_string, etc). I've only tested it for the distro I use by rubenvb though I figure there's a chance it...

@A.H. Rep has a lot less to do with quality than popularity. In any case, the rep cap (200 rep/day max from upvotes) means that only a few questions that retain substantial long-term popularity generate more than a few hundred points of rep.
Does the first one look like dividing? No. If you want to divide, use x / 2. Compiler can optimise it to use bit-shift if possible (it's called strength reduction), which makes it a useless micro-optimisation if you do it on your own.
