or maybe I mean the other way around

loosely speaking, of course

to use the projection matrix, you just create one, preferably using a helper function

for a standard camera, you use a perspective projection

when you use the vertex shader, then the output is in homogenous clip space- or, vertex position multiplied by World, then View, then Projection matrices

to position the geometry in the world, then relative to the camera, and then project it into the camera's image, as it were

how it works is beyond me, but you don't need that to call D3DXMatrixMultiply

@cpx It is room policy here to turn regulars into room owners. (See the newbie hints for why that is so.) If you do that, you either get an ever-increasing list, or you not only put new users on it, but also take others off it. I sometimes put new users onto the list that I have seen chatting here regularly for weeks, and when I do this I usually also quickly browse through the list for whom I haven't seen in a while, and might take someone off the list.
