but then it wasn't in the standard :) I sort-of choose not to bother with pre-standard c++

I wasn't there when it happened, and the quality of my episodic memory wouldn't allow me to recount anything with authority anyways

we use vectors for that.

I use them in my code, but the world runs on C and we need to get data from our vectors. Until there is some way to do std::vector<float> v; auto somehwere= v.ptr(); I can't change

@sehe And if you really need that, you can support it too (with an allocator that uses malloc instead of operator new to get the raw memory). Still ugly as sin, but such is life.
