How can I efficiently cache my images on the user browser, if I am using them on a html5 canvas? they are always redownloaded when needed.... :T tried to use cache manifest, but it is not adequate for me, because my .html pages are created dynamically by the server. :T

@Fernando you could look at EverCookie (samy.pl/evercookie) as it includes an option to force-cache a PNG that has been painted through HTML5 canvas.

I suggested several times some kind of "delayed answer" option for a questioner, so the answers will increase in quality

but it was declined with the fear of too many "clone" answers... well, I have to agree that could happend but on the other hand, this also happens today quite a lot

These iframes were put in by "content developers". They mis-spelled html. Thus, we got 404s.

you cannot return on success, it is still asynchronous, you must use callbacks

even with $.when you need to use callbacks or else your variables remain undefined

I think I'm just better off with my original design, which returns the ajax object, and I run dataTools.foo().success(function(jqXHR){/*...*/})

If I return the ajax object, what's the difference between chaining the .success, as opposed to the callback?

well.. jQuerys jXHR object also abstracts a Deferred object, so you indeed can return the request object just like that

function myRequest() {
    return $.ajax({});
}

myRequest().done(function() {});

Well, I was trying to do this:

$.each(dataTools.foo(), function(k,v){
    console.log(v);
});

But now I'm going to do this:

dataTools.foo().success(function(jqXHR){
    $.each(jqXHR, function(k,v){
        console.log(v);
    });
});

Which should probably do away with my need for any deferred work, I think.

Any comments on this approach instead?
