To be semantically correct should all click events be attached to a <button> or <a>? As opposed to a <li> for example

a is for navigation, primarily off-page navigation

it's fine to attach click events to lis IMO

but buttons are for on-page actions

is there an aria attribute that I should attach to <li> to show that it is clickable? And I would also add tabindex

role="button" I think might be the way to go

also might need to add keyboard listener for focus -> space

I wonder why that ^ is? Seems odd to have it different. Historical inconsistency maybe?
